Village wedding in Aston Tirrold, Lucy & Mikey
A Quintessential English Garden Wedding: Lucy & Mikey’s Day in Aston Tirrold
There is something undeniably magical about a village wedding in the heart of Oxfordshire. Lucy and Mikey’s celebration in Aston Tirrold was the epitome of English country charm—a day filled with beautiful architecture, lush garden views, and a relaxed, joyful atmosphere that made my job as a photographer an absolute dream.
A Meaningful Ceremony at St Michael’s Church
The day began at the historic St Michael’s Church in Aston Tirrold. This picturesque flint-and-stone church, with origins reaching back to Norman times, provided a romantic and intimate backdrop for the couple's "I dos".
Capturing Lucy's arrival as she walked toward the ancient porch was a highlight; the churchyard, with its distinctive clock face and sundial, offered a timeless feel to the processional photos. Inside, the soft, natural light filtering through the nave created a serene environment for the ceremony.
Garden Reception in the Heart of the Village
After the ceremony, the celebrations moved to a stunning private garden in the village. Aston Tirrold is known for its beautiful, secluded spaces, and this garden was no exception.
The reception was a masterclass in "English Garden" styling:
The Setting: A sprawling green lawn surrounded by seasonal blooms, perfect for guests to mingle with glasses of Pimm's in hand.
The Decor: Delicate floral arrangements and long banqueting tables under the open sky gave the afternoon a relaxed, homegrown feel.
The Portraits: We took advantage of the garden's lush foliage for the couple's portraits, capturing those quiet, "just-married" moments away from the crowd.
Golden Hour and Garden Games
As the sun began to dip, the garden transformed. The low light of "golden hour" provided the perfect glow for some final romantic shots before the party really kicked off. From lawn games like croquet to heartfelt speeches delivered in the tipi, every moment felt authentic to Lucy and Mikey’s vision of a laid-back celebration.
Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs.! It was an honour to document such a beautiful day in one of Oxfordshire's most charming villages.
