Oxfordshire Farm Wedding, Fran & Simon
Love in the Cotswolds: Fran & Simon’s Oxfordshire Farm Wedding
There is something truly timeless about an Oxfordshire farm wedding. The rolling hills, the golden stone, and the scent of wild meadows create a backdrop that is as romantic as it is relaxed. Last year, I had the absolute pleasure of capturing Fran and Simon’s special day and it was a celebration overflowing with character and heart.
Fran chose to get ready in the farm house with her bridesmaids before heading to the church.
Our Lady and Saint Hugh’s Church
The ceremony was held in the historic market town of Witney, at Our Lady and Saint Hugh Church. This beautiful Roman Catholic church provided a serene and light-filled space for the ceremony.
As a photographer, I loved the architectural details—the white panelled ceiling and the unique stained-glass Stations of the Cross created a soft, ambient glow that perfectly suited the intimate vows Fran and Simon shared. The moment Simon saw Fran walking down the aisle under the glazed screen of the nave was pure magic—one of those "breath-holding" moments that makes this job so rewarding.
The Farm Reception
After a joyful exit after the ceremony, everyone headed into the countryside for a rustic farm reception.
Fran and Simon’s celebration embraced the best of rural life:
Candid Moments: I captured the guests enjoying drinks in the beautiful landscaped gardens..
Portraits: As the rain threatened, I whisked the newlyweds away into a quiet area of the gardens. Seeing Fran and Simon just being themselves—laughing and walking hand-in-hand through the wilder parts of the farm—yielded some of the most natural, heartfelt images of the day.
The Party: The evening kicked off in a beautifully decorated Marquee, probably one of the biggest I’ve ever had the pleasure of working in. After some incredibly moving (and hilarious) speeches, the dance floor remained packed until the early hours.
Fran and Simon, thank you for inviting me to witness such an "epic" day. Your wedding was a perfect blend of tradition and relaxed country charm.
