University Church of St. Mary the Virgin Wedding, Alissa & Sam

What an absolute joy it was to capture Alissa and Sam’s wedding day! Their celebration was a masterclass in Oxford charm, blending the city's historic grandeur with a relaxed, riverside reception.

A Grand Ceremony at St Mary’s

The day began at the University Church of St Mary the Virgin. Standing in the heart of Oxford, this 13th-century landmark provided a breathtaking backdrop for their vows. The light streaming through the historic windows created a truly ethereal atmosphere as Alissa walked down the aisle.

Setting Sail on the Thames

Following the ceremony, we swapped the cobblestones for the water. Guests enjoyed a scenic boat trip along the Thames, taking in views of Port Meadow and Oxford’s "dreamy spires" from a whole new perspective. It was the perfect transitional moment, allowing everyone to relax with a glass of fizz before reaching the reception.

The Medley Walled Garden Reception

The boat docked just a short walk from

The Medley Walled Garden, a hidden gem on a working family farm in Binsey. This 17th-century walled oasis felt worlds away from the city centre.

The evening was filled with:

  • Rustic Elegance: Dinner was served under festoon lighting among the fruit trees and landscaped shrubbery.

  • Golden Hour Magic: We snuck away for portraits against the ancient stone walls as the sun dipped low.

  • Coziness by the Fire: As night fell, guests gathered around the venue’s signature firepit, making for some of my favourite candid shots of the night.

Alissa and Sam, thank you for letting me document such a unique and beautiful day. It was a privilege to see two iconic Oxford settings come together so perfectly.
