Wildwood Bluebell Wedding photographer, Rebecca & Andy

At the start of September I was in Gloucestershire, at the fabulous Wildwood Bluebell wedding venue, to photograph the wedding of Rebecca & Andy. It’s always lovely to photograph a wedding at Wildwood Bluebell, it is a beautiful countryside venue being set amongst mature woodland and acres of green space.

I started the day just before the ceremony, which was held in the middle of the woods. To say it was idyllic would be an understatement. I hung out with Andy and the groomsmen for a bit photographing them putting on the button holes and having a pre ceremony drink. I then heading over to the cottage to photograph Rebecca and her maids make their way through the woods to the ceremony. The walk down the aisle was pretty fantastic. All the bridesmaids leading the way in their different brightly coloured dresses with Rebecca and her dad following behind. After the ceremony was a hand tying ritual followed by Rebecca and Andy leaving holding smoke bombs.

A Wildwood Bluebell Wedding

Following the ceremony there was a confetti run and then the drinks reception.

The meal and speeches took place in the marquee which had been decorated with wildflowers and had super rustic vibes.

Following a load of candid photos of everyone having fun, it was time for Andy to play a set in his band. This was brilliant and the atmosphere was amazing. So much fun to photograph. Everyone then headed outside for an epic firework display. These were some of the best fireworks i’d witnessed at a wedding. My coverage finished with more dancing photos and this time Andy could have a dance.

Here's what Rebecca and Andy had to say about their wedding

What was your favourite part of the wedding?
The ceremony! It was so special having our friends involved- the musicians of the group performing the music and our dear friend Paul had very thoughtfully put together a truly magical ceremony. We're pleased the knot tying worked too...

Please let me know about any personal or DIY touches you added to make the day a little more ‘you’.
Hah, where to start..! The venue, Wildwood Bluebell, is very much a DIY wedding venue... From decorating the ceremony area, to hiring a marquee, to ensuring someone cleaned the loos throughout the night, we had input into it all!

The things that made the day especially us were Andy's band playing in the evening, which was really magical, the input so many people had in the ceremony, our wonderful friend Jenny who made our GORGEOUS cake, and the help we had from a friend's firework company (Fantastic Fireworks) to light up the sky and all the budding DJs amongst our friends who created amazing playlists for our late night silent disco.

We couldn't have done it without our fantastic bridal party, who really went above and beyond, working super hard in the days before to get everything set up, and our fantastic team on the day, POM Events, who were the most caring, fun, attentive event staff you could wish for.

It was truly a very personal wedding and we loved every second of it!

Why did you choose your venue?
Well, to start off with, we really wanted to get married outside (and how lucky were we with the weather?!). Getting married in an area of woodland was important to us.

Secondly, because we had complete freedom to organise the day as we wanted, which meant we ticked everything off our wedding day ticklist - from Andy's band, to freshly shucked oysters, to fireworks and more.

Having the venue for the whole weekend also meant we weren't rushed. We had a chance for a debrief with our guests the next day and lots of people staying on site and no curfew, meant the party went on long into the night!

How did you find using Lee Dann Photography, were there any particular things about my approach that you liked, and how did you feel about the photos once you received them?
We both find the process of posing for photos a little awkward and really appreciated how Lee didn't make a fuss and put us at ease so quickly! We love the fact the main focus is on natural photos, with few posed pics, but also appreciated Lee grabbing us to make the most of the beautiful sunset!

If you were doing it all again what would be the one bit of advice you’d give yourself at the start of the planning process?
It'll all be ok on the day, just enjoy every moment!
