Rustic Oxford Wedding, Ellie & Pete

In May I was in Beckley, Oxford, to photograph the wedding of Ellie and Pete. Itā€™s always lovely to photograph a wedding in my home county.

I started the day at the Cotswolds Lodge Hotel in Oxford to photograph Ellie and the bridesmaids get ready, before heading to Beckley. The wedding was to take place on a beautiful field, with panoramic views out over the Oxfordshire countryside. There was a campsite for guest camping and a huge Marquee decorated with a lovely rustic theme.

On arrival, I met up with Pete and his many best men to photograph them choosing and putting on a varied collection of neck ties Pete had been purchasing for months leading up to the wedding. This was a great idea and very original. There were some interesting tie choices and it was a good idea to get in early to choose.

Whilst the guys were busy doing this, Ellie had arrived and was waiting in one of the small camping tipiā€™s. Ellie and Pete wanted to do a first look before the ceremony and thought it would be lovely to get some shots of this.

Itā€™s not a common tradition here in the UK but I have photographed a few over the years and they are always really nice.

Pete and Ellie walked down the aisle together with one of their friends walking ahead of them playing the fiddle. A humanist ceremony taken by another two of the couples friends. Itā€™s so lovely being able to have a ceremony outside in a place of your choosing and not having to have a licenced roof over you head. Following the vows and ring exchange, a band played an acoustic song before Ellie and Pete walked back up the aisle as the guests enthusiastically threw confetti.

The drinks reception then took place outside before everyone sat down in the marquee for the meal.

After the meal I photographed the speeches, which were bloody brilliant. I hear a lot of speeches and these were really great. Following a load of candid photos of everyone having fun, it was time for Pete to play a set in his band. This was brilliant and the atmosphere was electric. So much fun to photograph. Pete did manage to escape the band and have a first dance with Ellie towards the end of my coverage.

Before I left, I got a few great shots of Ellie and Pete with the fairy lights.

A Spring wedding in Oxfordshire.

I have photographed many weddings in Oxford and all over the UK.  I can see why Ellie and Pete chose to get married in such a beautiful location. The photo opportunities were many and it was a dream location for a photographer, with so many fantastic options available.

I really loved working with Ellie and Pete, It was such a great day.

I hope you enjoy the photos and if you are planning a wedding I'd love to hear from you.
