Oxford Town Hall Wedding, Zipora & Lucie

A few weeks ago I was in Oxford to photograph a civil ceremony and drinks reception for the lovely Zipora and Lucie at the prestigious Oxford Town Hall and Worcester College. I love being an Oxford Town Hall Wedding photographer.  It is such a fabulous venue right in the center of Oxford city. I always look forward to photographing a wedding there.  I was so pleased when Zipora and Lucie asked me to be their wedding photographer.  It was also great to be back at Worcester college, definitely one of my favourite colleges.

Here's what Zipora & Lucie had to say about their wedding

What was your favourite part of the wedding? We loved every part of the day! The drinks reception was particularly enjoyable as we got to mingle and catch up with our family and friends.

Please let me know about any personal or DIY touches you added to make the day a little more ‘you’. We made our own garden games and did our own flowers! We also designed the signage to match the ties and flower girl bows.

Why did you choose your venue? Oxford is very special to both of us having met there. Lucie studied at Worcester College and with its beautiful buildings and grounds it was the perfect setting for our wedding.

How did you find using Lee Dann Photography, were there any particular things about my approach that you liked, and how did you feel about the photos once you received them? We were really happy with the whole experience. We found it really useful to meet with Lee beforehand and discuss what we wanted from the photos with advice from Lee. On the day, Lee was very efficient and unobtrusive, he even turned up early to get some extra shots of the college before the rain! It really helped that Lee was familiar with the venues as he knew some great spots for some of our photos. Many of our family members commented on how great the photographer was. The photos are amazing and we have some very special couple photos along with plenty of beautiful photos of the guests that tell a nice story of how the day panned out.

I was due to start just before the ceremony, but arrived a little early as I always do. I begun by grabbing some shots of the outside of Worcester college. There is a great shot of the college looking down Beaumont street. Zipora had told me that Worcester college were going to fly a rainbow flag so I really wanted some shots of that. I then went to the Oxford Town Hall to grab some venue shots and a few details before the guests arrived.

The ceremony was especially lovely with all the emotion and being set in such a fabulous space.  Following the ceremony, everyone walked through town to the reception at Worcester College.

A summer wedding in Oxford

A drinks reception at Worcester College

It was lovely to be back at Worcester College. Apart from the odd shower, the sun was shining and the vibe was jolly. Following a few drinks and time for Zipora and Lucie to do the rounds chatting to all their friends and loved ones we headed into the beautiful grounds of Worcester to take some natural couple photos. I love these quiet moments away from the crowds, it can get quite hectic, so it’s nice to go for a little stroll and capture some photos in a more relaxed fashion. We went to some of Zipora and Lucies favourite spots in the gardens before going back to the party.

My final half hour was spent listening and photographing a fabulous Jazz a capella group called The Oxford Gargoyles. I’ve seen them perform before at other weddings and just as brilliant as all the other times i’ve seen them perform. The perfect pre dinner entertainment.

Wedding Photography at Oxford Town Hall

I have photographed many weddings in fine venues all over the UK.  I can see why Lucie and Zipora chose to get married at The Oxford Town Hall. Completed in 1897 and officially opened by the Prince of Wales, it is just as magnificent today as it was when it opened.  The photo opportunities are endless and it is a dream venue for a photographer, with so many fantastic options available. I really loved working with Zipora and Lucie, It was such an intimate, heartwarming day. I hope you enjoy the photos and if you are planning a wedding I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks for looking.
