Small Garden Wedding, Mae & Geoff
In the summer I was in Blewbury near Oxford for a small three hour garden wedding and party. It’s nice to change gears sometimes and shoot an event that is a little more laid back and somehow more intimate. This is what Mae and Geoff’s wedding turned out to be. Being a humanist ceremony it was also super unique.
Being I was only there for three hours, I was just hired to photograph the main parts, this being the ceremony and drinks reception.
I arrived a little early as I always do and took small scene setting photos, mainly of Geoff’s parents beautiful cottage and gardens. I also captured some lovely interactions as the guests started to arrive. It was a very small wedding with not too many guests, so I had to work super hard to blend in.
A family friend had been given the role of celebrant and had added buckets of uniqueness to the task. The ceremony started with the entrance of Mae and her sister and she was surprised to find Geoff missing. Geoff was locked away in the garden house and soon appeared where he joined Mae and the ceremony began. The celebrant and his accomplice guided the proceedings whilst wearing big curly wigs and draped in yellow scarfs. Very different. The ceremony concluded with the couple being bound in different coloured yarns. Great fun.
Following the cutting of the cake I spent the remaining time photographing the drinks reception and lots of garden games.

I have photographed many weddings in Oxford and all over the UK. I can see why Mae and Geoff chose to get married at the family home, a beautiful location. The photo opportunities were many and it was a dream location for a photographer, with so many fantastic options available.
I really loved working with Mae and Geoff, It was such a great day.
