Garden Wedding, Shona & Tom

Towards the end of last year I had the pleasure of photographing Shona and Tom's wedding.  The wedding was held in Shona's parents garden in the beautiful little village of Waterstock, Oxfordshire.I love a good garden wedding!  You can add personal touches to most weddings, but when you host it yourself you really can go all out.Shona had chosen to get her makeup and hair done offsite before heading back to the house to finish off  the final preparations.I must add at this point that the weather forecast was heavy rain all day.  They sometimes get it wrong, but this time they didn't.  It rained and rained, all day and all night.Without doubt the wettest wedding I've ever photographed.  Did it dampen spirits? Nope it was a fabulous day.I always tell couples that rain doesn't bother me and it shouldn't worry them.  It would be lovely to have sunshine all day, but this is England and it rains.  Rain has it's advantages, like forcing all your guests together instead of them spreading out, like they do at a sunny wedding.Shona and Tom had planned to get married outside on a lovely little island at the bottom of the garden.  With the heavy rain I thought this plan might have changed.  Shona was firm on the plan and to be honest I don't blame her.  Despite the rain it was awesome.Apart from the outdoor ceremony the rest of the day was spent in the huge marquee.  It was a great atmosphere and a real celebration. It was great working with Shona and Tom.  They were so lovely and it was a fabulous day to photograph.I hope you enjoy looking at the photos and if you are planning a wedding I'd love to hear from you.
